Spring Tour of Homes 2013
Mark your calendars for the big Spring Tour of Homes coming up this weekend! Don’t miss your chance to see an extraordinary selection of a wide variety of top Dallas luxury homes listed by Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. Find out more here.
This French Regency-style manse at 4441 S. Versailles Avenue is a must-see!
Welcome to Paris! This gorgeous home could well be found in a luxury arrondissement – the glass-and-iron front door even replicates that of a château in France’s beloved capital. In place of the Bois de Bologne, however, the French Regency-style home overlooks one of the most beautiful parks in Dallas, aptly named “Versailles.”
A French chic ambience pervades the residence, now staged with newly arrived European antiques and contemporary art on the walls. An extraordinary team came together to create the six-bedroom home, including architect Will Snyder, builder Christine Goff, and stager Ann Schooler of Schooler, Kellogg and Co.
French doors and windows welcome light while maximizing views of Versailles Park from almost every room. Elegant spaces are detailed with beautiful, custom materials, including Ann Sacks floors in the wide hallway laid with limestone and inset with slate. The formal rooms on either side feature full French paneling and Bordeaux-patterned wood floors from French-Brown. Archways open from the center hall to a cross-hall and, further back, to a stunning great room, with honey-glazed wood paneling and a stone-mantled fireplace lined with antique, herringbone brick. This room accesses a deep veranda with a fireplace. To the east, an intimate, light-filled space can serve as a morning or music room. Nearby, wrought-iron, black-and-gold stairs are emblematic of the French Regency period. Past the stairs, a handsome study with a “now” sensibility features a furniture-like finish on the wood floors and walls.
In the opposite wing, a cook’s kitchen offers a stone hood, a Lacanche range, a large marble center island, and gourmet appliances. The irresistible breakfast room with its groin-vaulted ceiling overlooks the park. Upstairs, the master suite includes a sitting room viewing the park, a large master bedroom with a balcony and spa-like, his-and-her baths. A winsome nursery (or lady’s office) and four additional bedrooms on this floor each has a separate bath by Waterworks. The basement level offers a wine-tasting room, a wine cellar, a media room, and a full bedroom suite. Stay home – and enjoy Paris!
