Believe it or not, the holiday season is right around the corner, and as families look forward to turkeys and tinsel, Hyer Elementary offers a one-stop shop for seasonal gifts and goodies. This year’s Hyer Hollydays Bazaar is the school’s 35th annual holiday market and neighborhood treasure trove. More than 100 vendors gather to sell their wares in almost every category imaginable. Items range from home accessories to gourmet foods, jewelry and clothing, offering something for everyone.
Held on the grounds of Hyer Elementary at 3920 Caruth Boulevard, the bazaar features vendors, performances and family-friendly activities. The bazaar is open Friday, Nov. 8, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door, and children 12 years old and younger receive free admission.
Special features of this year’s bazaar include performances by local dance, theatre, orchestra, and martial arts organizations, as well as a “Dashing through the Aisles” hour on Friday evening, offering special discounts on admission and goods from participating vendors. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the cafe, bake sale, and always popular CandySticks table. So-Cal, the southern California themed food truck, will also be on location Friday evening, serving tasty tacos to hungry shoppers.
The bazaar is organized by the Hyer Preschool Association and staffed by over 200 volunteer members. Proceeds from Hollydays help Hyer Elementary with various upkeep and renovation costs. In previous years the proceeds have helped fund technology enhancements, facilities renovations and maintenance, as well as playground equipment and library updates.
Tiffany Mooney, bazaar co-chair, credits the community for the event’s continued success through the years.
“I feel like the community really supports us,” Mooney says. “The community, our vendors, and sponsors really look forward to it every year.”
Whether you’re searching for those perfect stocking stuffers or a little splurge for yourself, the Happy Hollydays Bazaar is the go-to event for holiday shopping for a great cause.
