Hometown Fun for the Fourth in the Park Cities!

July 1st, 2016 | by Michelle

If you’re looking for an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration in a tight-knit community, look no further than the Park Cities area. It begins with the Firecracker Run and ends with the parade and picnic – and it’s all-around fun in Highland Park, University Park, Bluffview and Devonshire.

Highland Park / University Park – Park Cities July Fourth Parade and Picnic

 Monday, July 4th – 9 a.m.

 Goar Park in University Park

A decades-long tradition, the parade, which is sponsored by the Park Cities Rotary Club, winds through the streets of Highland Park and University Park. The parade begins on Euclid Avenue near Highland Park Town Hall at 9 a.m. The parade travels up Preston Road and then heads east on University Boulevard to Goar Park, which is just west of University Park City Hall. The Park Cities Rotary Club is responsible for parade entries and vendor booth space at Goar Park.

If you’re up for it, the University Park Firecracker Fun Run begins at 7:30 a.m. Monday. Area residents can add a little sizzle to their Independence Day festivities by running or walking in this annual 5K event. The race begins and ends at Curtis Park.  The race is open to participants of all ages and abilities.

Bluffview / Devonshire: Bluffview Fourth of July Parade

 Monday, July 4 – 9:45-10:30 a.m.

4811 Bluffview Blvd Dallas, TX 75209

Every year, this annual parade rolls through Bluffview in celebration of Independence Day. Starting at 9:45 a.m. at 4811 Bluffview Blvd., the parade proceeds south on Bluffview, right on Catawba, right on Wildwood, and left on Bluffview – back to where it started. No street closures are required.
